Book II continues the pre-dystopian series about the impact of the world's equine species' disappearance. Many signs provide hints. There's an Aurora Borealis over Texas, a mysterious mountain appearing in the forest of tall pines, thunder where there is no storm.  Elle and her circle of friends have a lot to figure out. The mysteries mount with each clue sending Elle and her companions on repeated adventures. Their searches reveal the source of the horse calls and a connection is made too ancient to understand. Jamie disappears along with their mysterious mountain. A search takes Tommy and his brother to the Black Hills after Elle's reaction witnessing her deepest dread. Tommy leads his rescuers into the hills to find a place familiar from their experience in Texas and his dreams. He hopes his cousin is there and not lost forever in a Time Loop. Elle experiences her most revealing dream vision. It takes her to Tommy at the moment of his greatest peril. Can she save him from within her vision as something reaches out to touch his heart***Quote from the book:  About three-quarters of a mile away we found a strip of ground slightly cleared of grasses for a goodly width, mostly trampled and pockmarked with hoof prints, as if a herd of horses had passed when the ground was very wet or during a storm.  Tommy felt the slight dampness still in the ground, studying the prints carefully.  "I don't believe this.  These prints are relatively fresh.  They're still damp with fresh prints stepping onto older, previously made prints."
